WE PRESENT THE LASER METHANE DETECTOR

WE PRESENT THE LASER METHANE DETECTOR

Ilya Kryzhanovsky, Software Engineer, JSC “Peleng” (Belarus)

I represent the company “Peleng” from Minsk, Belarus. The main exhibit at our booth is our laser methane detector DML-150S. It is a universal instrument for measuring and detecting gas leaks, primarily methane. It should be noted that a significant volume of gas is lost due to leaks and natural pipeline wear, which can lead to serious accidents. Our device helps prevent such situations and can therefore be in demand among many companies.

The device is highly advanced. It incorporates a large number of integrated systems such as a thermal imager, a video camera, GPS, and three laser beams that scan a strip up to 40 meters wide from a height of up to 150 meters.

The device is used both on ground transport and on aerial platforms — drones and Mi-28 helicopters. It has been tested under various conditions, primarily on gas transmission pipelines and compressor stations. The laser detector can also be installed at stationary facilities. Currently, it is being tested in Minsk at a compressor station, where it operates 24/7 and helps detect methane leaks at a gas pumping site. It monitors almost the entire station area.

Our company primarily specializes in the optoelectronic industry — from the space sector to meteorological equipment. We entered the oil and gas sector relatively recently. This is one of our first pieces of equipment for the oil and gas industry.

The atmosphere at the exhibition is favorable, and there is interest in the device. Representatives of companies involved in systems integration and safety in the oil and gas sector are approaching us. Specialists from SOCAR and other industry professionals have also shown interest. We have not yet reached concrete agreements, but we have established contacts and identified mutual interest.
