On June 1, the largest event of the energy sector in the Caspian region, the 23rd International Caspian Oil & Gas 2016 Exhibition and Conference, commenced its work. The event is organised by Iteca Caspian and ITE Group plc. For more than two decades, the exhibition has represented a unique model of international cooperation, formation of reliable business contacts, mutually beneficial contracts, and successful implementation of projects. The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic, SOCAR have been of invaluable support to the Caspian Oil & Gas project.
The high status of the exhibition is reinforced by the participation of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev. In his speech at the opening ceremony, President Aliyev congratulated the guests and participants on the opening of Caspian Oil & Gas 2016, stressing that the event is significant and historically symbolic. Through this exhibition, Azerbaijan shows the world its oil potential, and tells about the cooperation with international energy companies in the implementation of large-scale projects.
Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Diplomacy in the Department of State's Bureau of Energy Resources, Mr Robin Dunnigan, read out US President Barack Obama’s greeting of the guests and participants of the exhibition and conference Caspian Oil & Gas 2016, which emphasised Azerbaijan’s reliability as a partner in ensuring the diversification of supplies and stability in the region. “America highly appreciates the efforts of Azerbaijan in the construction of the Southern Gas Corridor,” reads the message.
Special Trade Envoy of the Prime Minister of Great Britain in Azerbaijan, Baroness Emma Nicholson of Winterbourne, read a message from the British Prime Minister Mr David Cameron on behalf of Her Majesty's Government, wishing successful work to the participants of the Caspian Oil & Gas 2016 exhibition and conference. “Our country,” the letter says, “has strong bilateral relations. Energy supply from Azerbaijan plays an important role in the Southern Gas Corridor and Europe's energy security. We are glad and proud that BP and other British companies are seriously involved in this process”.
Each new Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition and Conference has attracted the attention of leading players in the market of energy resources, drawing their attention to Azerbaijan. Rating popularity of the exhibition is closely intertwined with the rapid development of Azerbaijan as an oil country.
This year, the exhibition attracted 240 companies from 30 countries, including Azerbaijan, Belgium, Spain, China, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Poland, and Portugal. Italy and Germany are represented with national pavilions. Among the newcomers, who make up 15% of the total number of participants, are companies from the UK, Portugal, Romania, the United States and other countries. Nearly two-thirds of the exhibition area is occupied by foreign participants.
Companies present a wide range of equipment, services and innovative technologies in the field of oil production and transport of energy resources, storage of oil and gas platforms and floating rigs, pipe-laying and protection systems for pipelines, and other services. A number of exhibitions are devoted to technologies in the field of fuel purification and production of raw materials into products ready for consumption. Most of the area is occupied by the company that offers the raw material for the chemical industry. Participants and visitors will find all conditions needed for fruitful work and professional communication.
The status of the event and the composition of the exhibition sponsors, which includes Azerbaijan’s leading companies and the leaders of the oil and gas industry, is prominent. Traditionally, the General sponsor of the Caspian Oil & Gas exhibition is SOCAR. Gold sponsors this year are BP and Petronas, and Silver Sponsor is Bos Shelf. Among the remaining sponsors are Azeri M-I Drilling, Caspian Marine Services, Caspian Drilling Company, Global Energy, GMS, AZFEN J.V., Hydromashservice, RussNeft, SOCAR Polymer, and Tekfen Construction. General media partner of the exhibition and conference is Caspian Energy International Media Group.
